The above EGT-19 silk is one that Vanners wove for us around 25 years ago - and I thought was sold out. While helping Neils a customer who is planning to attend a wedding later this month we found it in our silk room.
It is a simple and elegant pattern which I really like. Vanners sadly is no longer in business - a fatality of COVID...
Vanners was founded in 1740 by French Huguenot silk weavers - who helped create the traditional British silk industry.
We loved working with Vanners as they had a large archival collection of beautiful designs. Their sister company Adamley is still in existence under new ownership, and they print our Modern Madder silks for us.
We are now revisiting an idea I had a long time ago to print silks with a pattern made of equations. A scientist named Samiha recently sent me the handwritten equations that he wants made into a tie. They equations look great although I don't understand them...
