A brass slider will allow adjusting up to about 2 inches and is a good idea. A one piece construction will have a smooth surface and is good for formal collars. Grenadines have a textured surface and sliders don't always work smoothly with grenadines.

What a great company. I emailed David to enquire whether a tie could be made from this fabric, which I noticed was only offered for bow ties. David kindly obliged and the result, as usual, and with my custom measurements, is gorgeous and solidly constructed. The company’s customer service was helpful and relaxed. Sam Hober is an outstanding company, with whom I’ve had another excellent experience and purchase.
