Durian is a love it or hate it affair and I hate it.
It smells bad and tastes bad.
But to others it is the king of fruits and this is the season in Thailand.
It's a bit of a gamble to buy one unopened. Even in an upscale supermarket there will be endless controversy among the customers - People will stand around the cut durian fruit display and argue over the merits of soft and hard durian.
Being freshly opened helps but is not a total solution.
Mangosteen is the queen of fruits and is great - smells and tastes very good!
